How to enter
Introduction
Swim meets are great fun. You get to enjoy the fun of competing with other clubs, see if you're getting faster and hang out with your club mates.
They can be intimidating if you’re new to swimming. Don't worry, everyone has had to go to their first swim meet. You'll have older swimmers who can help you and a team manager and a coach to give you advice.
Procedure
The club's Race Secretary, Lynda Kamstra, emails the flyer out to EVERY registered competitive swimmer once it is received from the hosting club. The flyer is also placed on the website.
In the email, Lynda will advise the closing date for entries - all entries and payments must be received by this date to allow time to process the entries and send them on to the hosting club. Payment must be made by the closing date or the swimmer will not be entered in the meet. There will be no IOUs.
Payment for entries by direct credit /internet banking is preferred. The club's bank account is Karori Pirates Swimming Club Inc 030502-0590602-01 - please ensure that the payment details include the name of the swimmer. Payment can also be made via cheque or cash and can be left in the box at the pool, please include the swimmer's name on the envelope containing the payment. (The box is a wooden box that is on top of the cage containing the club's flippers/boards etc).
Entries must be submitted online using Direct Athletics - www.directathletics.com. All swimmers will be provided with login details for this site - if you have any problems using the site please contact Lynda via email to karoripiratesracing@gmail.com.
Parent Help at Meets
Parents are expected to be available if asked to help out with timekeeping, team managing, etc at each meet.
Karen O'Neil, our Officials Co-ordinator, is given the names of all swimmers participating in a particular meet and she will contact parents and ask for assistance.
Coaches Corner
Well done to all swimmers and parents last weekend. After a slow start Saturday we had a great Sunday and finished the weekend very well. Stacks of medals from a number of swimmers, and two Wellington records to Ted Taylor. Now we need to be even better this weekend.
Pirates Treasure
Swimmer of the month
